Whew.... It has been a while!

We have had so much going on and so many changes in a month.

About 3 wks ago..... we put this man, the love of my life, my very best friend and the father of my babies ......
On this bus, to go to.....(actually to go to the airport but you get the picture)

Iraq.

Here he is in front of a palace.

To say it was one of the worst days of my life would be an understatement. I have cried and cried and just when I think it is getting better.... I cry some more.

On a more positive note, he made it there safely and praise God for technology. We are using Skype and a webcam to see and talk to him via computer everyday. So to say it could be much worse is so true. When we did this 4 years ago it was much worse. When he starts working 16 hour days we wont talk to him as much but right now, while they are transitioning troops over, we are getting very spoiled.

While he is gone, I plan to do a lot of my projects. Here was the first one....

This is my living room that we painted a nice dark Khaki a year ago, when we moved in.

Well, I was never really happy with it because it was so dark and this room does not have a lot of natural light. I need light and airy. So last week, I repainted it Benjamin Moore's Adobe beige. I love this color. Here it is now. I will be painting all of the trim a bright white tomorrow.

Now, this is our other huge project. The garden is coming in.

Today, I put up 3 gallon bags of corn. My corn is not ready yet but a neighbor gave us a good bit. We ate some for dinner tonight and it was so wonderful.

I also put up 7 qts. of pickles. We love homemade pickles.

Now, here is some of the rest of my bounty right now.

I hope to put up lots of canned tomatoes, ketchup and spaghetti sauce. That is if I win the battle on blossom end rot.LOL
It also looks like we will start picking peas tomorrow.
Here is a picture of one of our sunflowers. We always plant a row of sunflowers for our middle daughter. She loves them and they are beautiful in the garden.
It is a busy, busy, time but I love harvest time.
I have a really large project going on and I can't wait to share it but it will be a while before it is completed.

Oh Trixi - I can't even imagine. CAN NOT, so I won't even pretend to know what to say except you guys have been in my prayers already. Glad to have an update, and so fun to see all you're doing. :)

I want you to tell your husband that we appreciate what he's doing and the sacrifices he makes for our country and YOU my friend, you make just as many sacrifices for our country just by letting him go and I want to say thank you! If you lived closer, well you wouldn't have those wonderful veggies growing that's for sure (pure sand over here) but wait that's not where I was going with that. No if you lived closer I would so be helping you with your projects and keeping you company. But I guess our blogs will have to do. Come by any time to chat!!

you MUST come to Kansas and help me get my garden started next spring :) With 4 toddlers, I can't quite do it yet but next summer they will be 3, 4, 4 & 5 so I think I can swing it! I admire all the hard work you do!

i am so happy that he got there safely, and so sad that you are at home crying. i was there last year. i am so sorry and know the feelings and in reading them i felt them again. so really i'm so sorry. it looks like you are keeping busy which honestly is one the main things that kept me sane. that and trusting in the lord. which i know you do on a daily basis. unfortunately it's easier to look back at our time apart than when you are in it...but yes this too shall pass and that reunion will be so sweet!
how long is he out for again?

Hi Miss Trixi! Yes,it has been a while. Bless your heart. I thank you and your family for keeping us "safe" at home. It's your family that pays the price for our freedom and please dont go a day without knowing that you are thought of. I can see why you have kept your little self so busy. What a garden you have and I love the new bright color. I hope it lifts your spirits. Blessings your way~

Praying for your husband, for you and the children.

I am glad to hear that you are able to keep in touch with him so far. I know it helps a little but still not the same as having him at home.

It is good that you are keeping busy but I miss your updates here on the blog.

I keep a watch looking for your post.

Take care and know that we love you and your husband for what he is doing for our country.

Your friend,
Pat

I think you are both saints for making the sacrifices that you do! Both of you are in my prayers. I'm so sorry you have to be without him for awhile, but I'm sure all your blog friends will fill the void. :)

Oh, Trixi. I have tears for you, your children, and your wonderful husband right now. I've never experienced this with my husband, but I distinctly remember my feelings when my father served 2 tours in Viet Nam when I was a child. It was very scary and I missed him terribly. I'm happy new technology allows you and the kids to see his face and chat with him, but I'm so sad that all of you are separated. Thank your husband for serving his country - and thank you for keeping the home fires burning as he does his duty. You certainly have a lot on your plate.

Your bounty is wonderful! And I love the sunflower. Wish I was close enough to lend you a hand with all the projects you have going on. Take care and (((hugs)))

Morning sweetie...I know it is so hard for you right now but I am so thankful you at least get to talk and see your hubby thru computer world..

The painting turned out great...I need to be painting but I just can't face a paintbrush right now! lol Ohhh I wish I was there to pick peas with you and make a tomatoe sandwich with those tomatoes!!!!! There is nothing more rewarding than growing your own food...when I was little mama would put up at least 200 quarts of cream corn every year in the freezer...ohhhhhh glory I love cream corn! lol and oh to see those pickles...brings back so many memories of mama canning and brings tears to my eyes..I never learned to can I was always so busy picking and shelling and cleaning up for mama..(yes I was the perfect daughter! lol)

May you have the best harvest ever and may this time go by quickly for you and your family...have a great day sweetie!~♥~

Hello,

I just found your blog tonight while I was searching another blog and I can soooo relate to you. My husband deployed to Afghanistan April 4th. I have five children, am a homeschooling Mom, and understand so very well the difficulty you are having right now. I love my husband dearly. He is my best friend...and a great father. If it were not for my relationship with the Lord, I told him he would be visiting me in the looney bin!!! We will be remembering you in our prayers. I have been chronicling some of my day to day difficulties on my blog too...so we have that in common as well. God bless.
